Can someone decode a portion of this pattern for me?

I am working on my first crochet sweater and I’ve come to a bit of a snag decoding this pattern. The pattern can be found here: http://www.bhg.com/crafts/knitting/wearables/the-craze-to-cast-on/?page=6

This issue arises around the sleeve part:
Sleeves (make two): Beginning at the lower edge, chain 24 (24, 26, 26, 28, 28). Row 1 (right side): Single crochet in second chain from hook and in each chain across * 23 (23, 25, 25, 27, 27) sts; turn. Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet in each single crochet across; turn. Increase Row: Chain 1, 2 single crochet in first stitch, single crochet in each stitch across ending 2 single crochet in last stitch * 25 (25, 27, 27, 29, 29) stitches; turn. Repeat Increase Row every 4th row 0 (0, 0, 5, 5, 8) times, every 6th row 4 (6, 6, 3, 3, 1) time(s), and every 8th row 1 (0, 0, 0, 0, 0) time. Work even on the 35 (37, 39, 43, 45, 47) stitches until piece measures approximately 18-1/2 (19, 19-1/2 , 19-1/2 , 19-1/2 , 20)” from beginning. Fasten off.

I do not understand what is meant by increase every 4th row 5 times, increase every 6th row 3 times, and increase every 8th row 0 times. (I’m making the size that corresponds to the numbers in the middle of the parentheses.) I know I am supposed to start with 25 stitches and end with 43, but I cannot for the life of me figure out which rows to increase. Do I increase the 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 18th, and 20th rows? If so, I’d only end up with 39 stitches after all increases have taken place. Please help!

  1. Jane says:

You started with 27 stitches in row 1 and row 2
Then they give you in the information for an increase row,
So row 3 will be your first increase row.

Row 3 (first increase row) 2 sc in first stitch and 2 sc in last stitch – an increase of 2 in each of the increase rows.
At the end of row 3, you will have 29 stitches
Then you increase every 4th row, 4 more times.
So row 4, 5, and 6 will be work even rows (29 sc)
Row 7 will be an increase (31 sc)
Row 8, 9, and 10 will be work even rows
Row 11 will be an increase (33)
Row 12, 13, and 14 will be work even
Row 15 will be an increase (35)
Row 16, 17, 18 will be work even
Row 19 will be an increase (37)

Now you increase in every 6th row, 3 times
    Row 20-24 work even
    Row 25 increase (39)
    Row 26-30 work even
    Row 31 increase (41)
    Row 32-36 work even
    Row 37 increase (43 sc)

You can ignore this increase “every 8th row 1 (0, 0, 0, 0, 0) time. ” because for your size you were to do it 0 times!
