There are *thousands* of craft-related sites. Most of my crafts are fiber arts, so that’s what I know about.
If you want to take up spinning, there’s http://www.icanspin.com, and the “Spindlers” Yahoo group (It’s loads of fun–spinning yarn, that is, not the exercise-bike silliness), as well as SpinList.. There are a zillion knitting/crochet/weaving groups out there — just search Knitting (or crochet, or weaving, etc) from the yahoo groups page.
