Brownie Girl Scout Troop looking for Thinking Day Craft and Game from France?

We are participating in the World Thinking Day aka “Tea Tasting” project. Our girls are representing France and need a unique craft and game to “sell” to other scouts. We will charge only $.25 and don’t have alot of money to put into it. We were going to serve “tastes” of cheese/bread and chocolate eclairs.

Any suggestions for our troop of 8 and 9 year olds would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don’t know about a craft, but you can play “Jacques a dit,” a sort of French Simon Says. (Prononuced jack ah dee)To make it easy for the girls, have them say, “Jacques a dit touch your nose,” or not say “Jacques a dit.” If they don’t say it and someone does it anyway, they say, “Jacques n’a pas dit.”(jack n’ah pah dee)

Quilling was traditionally done by French nuns. Paper bookmarks with a quilled flower / heart glued to the top could be made at little cost. Check for instructions:http://www.dotcomwomen.com/crafts/quilling.shtmlhttp://www.handmade-craft-ideas.com/paper-quilling-instructions.html

For a game, try boules or pétanque; all you’d need would be some tennis balls and a ping pong ball for a quick and cheap set, and the rules can be found online (simplify or modify them as needed).

A very popular craft in France at the moment is the scoubidou. Rubber string in various colours is twisted and braided into patterns, and the results make great key fobs, bag decorations, tags for instrument cases, you name it. Once again, instructions turn up online.
