Birthday Present?

Ok. So my mom is turning 43 this year and I want to make her a birthday present. My dad and I are already buying her a present, but I wanted to make something for he too.. its tradition. Last year I made this really nice diorama type thing with pictures of all of us and the year before I made a scrapbook. I’ve done many things like this before in the past and I’m running out of ideas! I’m 14 so it can’t be something like a finger painting.. can u guys help give me craft ideas?

Do you have a pottery place where you live? We have a couple fof places where you paint a piece of pottery. They have some really cute things to paint, like picture frames and plates and jewelry boxes.

What does she collect? Something for her collection would be nice to make…
I collect Floaty Pens. A stand to hold 40 sells for about 30 bucks but you can take a scrap of wood, cut it to shape, drill holes, paint it and it will cost very little. I also collect Pez.
You can buy a display stand to hang on the wall for $100
or you can use your head and improvise one for a whole lot less, depends on what supplies you have access to, how clever you are, how much you have to spend………whatever you decide to make her I am sure she will love it and love that you took your time to make it especially for her…..homemade is what I like best! On the other hand, if she doesn’t collect anything, start one for her!

find some family photos and gather them and make a picture frame and decorate it in her favorite things. (it may be if she gardening, maybe a fake flower so it never turns brown-if she likes a certain team or sport, put a pic of that in there too.)

one craft idea is that you can take some glass maybe have your dad help you putting it together, make a frame but, but put real flowers bsetween the 2 pieces of glass. i have a frame like that from Cancun, Mexico and the flowers never dried out.

another sweet present is that you could buy some wax, get some scented oil, (her favorite smell) put it in a pot on the stove to burn/mix them together them get a jar, dump it in, put a candle wick in the middle and then you can make your own candle!!

    moms love these gifts!

String some beads that go with her favorite dress.
You can make her a bar of “milled” soap by grating some good natural soap, and mix the gratings with a little of oatmeal powder (ground with a coffee grinder) and a little bit of hot-hot water (just enough to get it to press into a ball.) press and roll it into a ball or two when it gets cool enough to the touch. You can also press it into a mold with or without a rope loop (stuck deep inside) dangling from it (soap on a rope.) Let it dry for a week or two when it breaks away from the mold as it shrinks, and it’s ready to wrap and give.

You can use an unscented soap, and scent it with her favorite scent such as tea rose or such. The Oatmeal helps exfoliate (scrub) the skin at the same time as make her skin soft. It will give you some experience in soap making too! There are books on the subject with recipes for different purposes.

does it have to be a craft? you could write a poem about how much she means to you. and if you want to get crafty, you can write it all out on a nice piece of paper and decorate it.

    Make a ‘treasure box’.
Buy lots of little things that she will like or that are special to the two of you.
Also put in things like chocolate, framed photos, mix CDs, nail polish, stationary, etc.
And sometimes things that might be a personal joke between the two of you.
Maybe if she’s artistic you could put in a paintbrush, or if she’s a bit girly put in a plastic ‘princess’ tiara lol.
Just make it really special- little things that say alot about her!
( things she likes, things she hates, memories, things you did together etc)
    just think creative and symbolic.

then put it all in a box and cover it with photos of you & her or of things she likes

(Usually this wont cost very much- you can buy most of the stuff at a cheap shop. So if you have money to spare you could put in a dvd- perhaps her favourite movie, or otherwise movie tickets, a free day at a spa, etc. –just make it work with your budget!!)

    good luck!! xx
