Best free online sources to learn how to knit?

Well, I’d like to learn how to knit so I can sell stuff and make some money. And be a mega geek and have fan apparel for Harry Potter. :’D

Yeah, I know, I know. “lrn 2 google!”
Well, I thought it’d be best to ask those who already know how to knit what sites would be best. I’d rather not try to learn from a site that’s pretty poorly instructing the craft. So please don’t just Google and give me the first link you see… I can do that. D:

I pick up things fairly well, so hopefully I can learn this off the internet. ._. I already did some searching for free patterns I’m interested in, and it looks like there’s more stuff for knitting than crocheting, so yeah, knitting is what I hope to do.

But don’t do it to make money. The only way to compete with machine knit pieces in sales is to be willing to work for under $1 an hour and learn to do some intricate stitchery that machines cannot do. Do it for something relaxing, for gifts, and for being able to have knit items that fit exactly or are designed exactly as you like.

Go to youtube and type in learn to knit. That site has helped me out a lot. I used youtube when I was learning how to use the nifty knitter and it helped a lot. I wouldn’t recommend using that though, I think it is way to lose, all the hats I made had holes in them and the scarves all seemed a little holey too. Oh, and so far, everything I have seen that’s from Expert Village, seems to be awesome. Hope this helps!

I found YouTube more helpful than the book I got with my needles. I just started learning this week, but it was much easier to figure out what to do with a video than illustrations.
