Any ideas for a chinese activity/ arts and crafts for 2 – 5 year olds?
Ok basically I need to make an activity for the children to do next week. It can’t be anything to do with CHINESE NEW YEAR apparently… Silly i know but its something to do with religion. ..so im a bit stuck on ideas. I mean what could they make? Something not to complicated too..Do you know of any websites? Or ideas would be better!

Do you remember making Chinese lanterns? All you need is a rectangular piece of paper (coloured paper is good). Fold it in half length wise, cut at 1/2″ (1cm) intervals along the fold to a fixed point on the edges (leave 2″ or 5cm or so uncut). Unfold the paper and then attach the two (width) ends together so you have a cylinder of paper. You should now have a pretty paper lantern that the children can hang up all over the classroom or at home.

i don´t know much about chinese activity etc. but what comes to mind which is relatively simple is chinese lanterns or you can play dressing up in chinese clothes and make colorful cone hats out of card or paper.how about playing chinese whisper at this age can be very funny.you could also try making a stir fry with the children the two year old cutting the soft ingredients like mushrooms and courgettes and the older kids cutting the firmer ingredients.or you can do some coloring of someone in a chinese outfit or a picture of a chinese wall or you could get each child to color a chinese flag the older children to cut it out and then you can string them altogether to make a decoration.you could make up a small story or tell a chinese fairy tale and get the children to act out the story.hope one of these can help you.
