A clever way to display glass bottles and jars?

I collect glass bottles and jars of all shapes and sizes. I really love unique glass things. I have over one hundred bottles and close to one hundred glass jars. Some are colored some are clear. If I get a creative spark or need to make a quick gift/craft I will use one or several of these so my collection is constantly being used and replaced. Any clever ideas on how to display my collection? Right now they are just sitting on every surface of my room and various places around the house.

One way could be to make a mobile out of some of the bottles. Tie strings of varying lengths around the neck of bottles. Then tie the loose ends to a circular frame above & hang this frame on the ceiling, in any corner of the room. Just make sure the bottle don’t clash with each other. Make the mobile from ceiling right down to almost floor level. Decorate the strings & hoop, etc.

Or, to avoid bottles hitting each other, you could have a ring of decorative foam around the bottles that will absorb any accidental impact. If you decorate the rings, they will look pretty ornamental & mask their true purpose.

You could also make or buy a step-unit for one of the walls. This tiered unit or plain planks can be used to display bottles & jars at different levels without taking up too much space. If possible, you could one entire wall devoted to this display.

You could convert an old credenza or sideboard into an open shelf or one with a glass door & place the items inside aesthetically.

Maybe you can add small shelves [with horizontal bars] to a door that is not used often, & display the bottles on this door, just like you would on a wall.

You could also have a customized grid on the ceiling of one room, where you free-hang all your bottles & jars, so that whenever one looks up one sees the beautiful glass ‘sky’ :-)
I saw something like this in a steel utensil shop – the entire ceiling was covered with steel utensils of all shapes & sizes & it looked stupendous !

Hope some of these help ?
    All the very best :-)

Add : Your Q really intrigued me, stayed with me all morning…. so I’m back with a few more suggestions ;-)
Do you have any “dugout”- type area in your home ? Something like a shallow pool or the bath-tray , or on a smaller scale, you could make your own with a shallow pot or tray, etc. Arrange the bottles [horizontally would be better] at the base, close to each other. Then cover the entire area with strong glass or transparent tiles, such that the bottles can be seen through even while you walk over them !
If you want to be even more adventurous, add water to the shallow ‘pond’ & may be a few corals, shells, etc ?

You could also ‘hang’ them on a wooden “tree” – something like a hat stand, but with more ‘branches’.

Or, line them around indoor plant containers.

You could also make a pyramid-type building out of them in one corner of a room. Arrange them in decreasing layers, stacked one above the other, some horizontal for variety ….

In fact, even you end up displaying the glassware on simple shelves, mix up the arrangement by having both vertically & horizontally laid out bottles. This will enliven the display.

I still can’t get over the fact that you have almost 200 glass bottles & jars ! Here, the dust would be too much of a damper to even Think of attempting an open display ;-)

You can fill some of your glass bottles or jars with water the colors of the rainbow. Put these next to a window so that when the sunlight shines through, it will go through the colored water and create sort of stained-glass looking rainbows everywhere:

Go down to the Food Coloring Rainbow part.
Another idea is to use colored water and make images. Arrange the colors where they should be in a picture and wallah! If you choose this suggestion, i suggest you map the picture out on graph paper first. Collecting glass things is a great hobby!
